Bushfire draws thousands from across the globe
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Malkerns – Thousands of festivalgoers from across Africa and beyond descended on House on Fire this weekend as the 2026 MTN Bushfire Festival opened with music, culture and entertainment that transformed the venue into a melting pot of creativity and celebration.
Visitors from countries including Botswana, South Africa, Kenya and the United States joined local attendees at the internationally recognised festival, which continues to attract people from different backgrounds through its blend of music, art and cultural experiences.
The opening days of the festival saw packed stages, bustling food markets and vibrant art exhibitions as attendees moved around the colourful grounds taking in performances by local and international artists.
Many visitors described Bushfire as more than a music festival, saying it offers a unique space for cultural exchange, networking and creating lasting memories.
Davido Mershel, who travelled from Botswana with his family, said attending Bushfire had been a refreshing experience.
“I am looking forward to more live performances, especially Uncle Waffles, and I hope she creates unforgettable memories for us during the festival,” he said.
First-time attendees Anele Mthambo and Pinky Dlamini said they had long wanted to experience Bushfire and were impressed by the atmosphere.
“We are especially looking forward to watching Shakes & Les perform their hit song Mzala Siyakwazi while enjoying the energy and large crowds at the festival,” they said.
For Mandla Nkosi from Pretoria, the festival remains a favourite destination.
“For me, this platform feels like a sanctuary, and attending for the fifth time makes this year’s edition even more exciting. I really enjoy the atmosphere, the energy and the creative decorations around the festival grounds,” he said.
A group identifying themselves as Transport and Trans Group from South Africa said the event had lived up to expectations.
“The atmosphere, entertainment and cultural diversity make the experience exciting and memorable for us,” they said.
Local artist Bobo Rocboy attended to support fellow performers who secured slots on Bushfire stages.
“As a local artist, I believe this platform helps artists grow and gain more exposure in the industry,” he said.
Among the international visitors were Baba Tunde, Aria Wood and Ava Wood, who travelled from the United States.
“We came to have fun and support the artists performing at the festival. The atmosphere is amazing, and the friendliness of the people makes the experience even more enjoyable,” they said.
Martin Uhuru from Nairobi said Bushfire had provided exactly the experience he had anticipated.
“So far, the atmosphere, performances and overall vibe are exactly what I expected from such an internationally recognised festival,” he said.
Excitement continued to build around some of the festival’s most anticipated performers, including amapiano star Uncle Waffles and Moonchild Sanelly, as crowds remained engaged throughout the day with singing, dancing and celebrations taking centre stage.
With the festival entering its final day, attendees expressed anticipation for more standout performances as MTN Bushfire continues bringing together music lovers, artists and creatives from around the world.
