The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, working through the Department of Water Affairs, has begun a series of consultations with traditional leaders aimed at reviewing the Water Act 2003.
The latest engagement took place in the Lubombo Region, where traditional authorities were brought into discussions focusing on existing challenges within the current legal framework governing water resources. The initiative is set to extend across all four regions of Eswatini as part of a nationwide review process.
According to the department, the consultations are designed to collect practical insights from community leadership structures, with attention on gaps in the current legislation and opportunities for strengthening water resource management in the country.
