Mbabane- The Ministry of Education and Training is expected to complete the nationwide delivery of stationery to primary schools today, Friday, January 23, 2026, ahead of the opening of the new academic year on Tuesday.
Chief Inspector for Primary Schools Dr Thami Dlamini said deliveries had already been successfully completed in three regions; Hhohho, Manzini and Lubombo by Thursday, with the final phase set to cover the Shiselweni region.
Dr Dlamini said the ministry had made significant progress in ensuring that all primary schools receive exercise books and other essential learning materials on time.
“Our target is to complete all deliveries by tomorrow when we reach Shiselweni. By the time schools reopen, exercise books will be readily available so that pupils can begin learning from day one,” said Dlamini.
Dr Dlamini urged parents to play their part by ensuring that pupils’ exercise books are properly covered to prolong their use.
“We encourage parents to make sure that exercise books are covered so they last longer and do not wear out within a short period,” he said.
He also clarified procedures for pupils transferring to other schools, saying learners are expected to carry their exercise books with them as these are allocated to the learner by government under their previous school registration.
“Only textbooks should be left behind when a pupil transfers to another school,” said Dlamini.
Dr Dlamini further expressed appreciation to government for its continued support in providing learning materials to schools countrywide, noting that this intervention ensures learners are adequately equipped for their education.
