Mbabane: In a bid to continue with the 3rd phased approach of the reopening of schools, the government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has called all primary school teachers to report to their duty stations on Wednesday.
Minister of Education and Training Lady Howard Mabuza announced that all primary school teachers must go back to work in preparation for the opening of other grades as the government continue with phase 3 of the reopening of schools in the country.
Speaking on national radio on Tuesday, Mabuza said all primary teachers are expected to report to their different work stations on Wednesday to prepare for return of Grade VII pupils on September 1. Mabuza said all teachers, even those who were not teaching the opening grade, were supposed to report to work.
The minister said the reason they recall the teachers is so to cover the lost time while pupils were at home and the other teachers will have to assist the grade VII teachers in marking some of the assignments given to pupils. Mabuza said pupils ought to be given a lot of work for them to be able to prepare for their external examinations.
The reopening of Grade VII is the third phased reopening of schools in the country since they were closed in March. The 1st phase was the reopening of Form Vs on July 6 and it was followed by reopening of Form 3s on August 24.
