Mbabane – The Eswatini Electricity Company has reported around 1,500 electricity faults across the country following heavy rains that disrupted power supply in multiple communities.
The utility said technical teams are working around the clock to restore electricity safely, but continuous rainfall has made some roads slippery or inaccessible, slowing repairs in certain areas.
In the Pigg’s Peak Depot zone, outages have been reported in Hhelehhele, Mganda, Lufafa, Ndzingeni, Vusweni, Malanti, Nkalangeni, Mvembili, Maphalaleni, KaDlomo, Nkhaba, Forbes Reef, Mnyokane, Mahebedla, Majotini, Mhlosheni, Nkomanzi and KaNcesi.
Stonehenge supply areas affected include Maphalaleni, Dlozini, Mabheleni, Nhlokomeni, Emabeleni, Kalaguleka, Hawane, Fonteyn, Mdzangwini, Mpolonjeni, Nkoyoyo and Makholokholo.
In Matsapha and Manzini, communities without power include Sicelwini, Fairview, Makholweni, Ngwane Park, Bulunga, Mahlabane, Mafutseni and Timbutini.
Mhlume supply zones have also been hit, with outages in Mafucula, Mhhononyweni, Lomahasha, Mkhangala, Shewula, Mswati, Nginga, Gushede, Majembeni, Mountain Camp, Mangwenya, Tincumatsini, Jamehlungwini, Mnyamatsini, Titandini, Mafuku, Mlangane, Mhlangatane, Mavula and Mayiwane.
Eastern areas including Siteki, Matsetsa, Mayenjane, Shoba, Majotane, Mvula, Lomahasha and Shewula have experienced similar disruptions.
EEC apologized for the inconvenience and urged customers to remain patient as restoration continues, stressing that safety remains the top priority under the challenging weather conditions.
