Mbabane: Hosea Member of Parliament (MP) and businessman Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza paid E500 Fine for a man whom he found in court being charged for the theft of golf balls.
MP Mabuza found Velaphi “Khuluzi” Mamba at the Magistrate courts in Mbabane, appearing before Acting Magistrate Simo Simelane on a case of theft of golf balls, who gave a verdict to Mamba to pay E500 as a Fine or get three months jail time.
Mabuza came in to the court at the time when Magistrate Simelane was giving out his verdict and so listened to how much was needed from Mamba and just seeing the situation of the man, Mabuza was touched and just drew E500 from his pocket and gave one his men to forward it Senior Crown Council Chris Sibandze as a payment for Mamba’s fine.
In a brief interview with Independent News, Mamba thanked the legislator for such a generous gesture. Mamba wept in excitement expressing his gratitude to Mabuza, mentioning that strangely for him he did not even know that this man who paid for his sins, let alone that he was a member of Parliament.
Mamba said in as much as the court judgment was not harsh on him but he was not expecting such help which came out of the blue just at the right time when he needed it the most. Mamba further disclosed that on top of paying for the fine, Mabuza also added E150 for transport and food.
MP ‘Bacede’ said he did not know Mamba but he was touched by his situation, judged by look of things that the man is struggling and to pay the Fine could be a burden to Mamba. Mabuza said he found it to worth doing to come to Mamba’s rescue.
