Matsapha – Thirty-seven police officers have completed a Traffic Management Course at Matsapha Police Academy as the Royal Eswatini Police Service continues efforts to improve road safety and professional service delivery across the Kingdom.
The course, identified as Traffic Management Course Number 1 of 2025, concluded today and brought together officers drawn from different units within the police service. The training focused on strengthening traffic management skills, ethical conduct and professionalism among officers tasked with enforcing road safety laws.
The programme was officially closed by Senior Deputy National Commissioner Melusi Shadrack Simelane, who represented the National Commissioner of Police at the ceremony held at the academy in Matsapha. Simelane congratulated the officers on completing the course and described the training as a key step in building a professional and respected police service.
He said continued advancement in professional training contributes to public trust and confidence in the police, particularly among communities and road users who interact daily with traffic officers. Simelane reminded the graduates that the police service expects high standards of discipline and conduct from its members.
Addressing the officers directly, he cautioned against criminal conduct, corruption and behaviour that damages the reputation of the organisation. He urged traffic officers to avoid aggression, stereotyping and disorderly conduct while carrying out their duties.
Simelane said he expects the officers to return to their respective communities and apply the skills gained to improve traffic management and reduce road accidents, which continue to claim lives on Eswatini’s roads.
