Mbabane: Former Senator Mpheni Dlomo is challenging the Transnet’s decision not to award the E50 billion lucrative tender and is demanding minutes of the meeting that made the call.

Mpheni Patrick Dlomo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Le-Moloko Consortium, one of the bidders, has approached the Johannesburg High Court to stop Transnet from awarding a new tender until the dispute around the original R50 billion tender is settled.

News 24 reported on Tuesday that the R50 billion Transnet tender for the manufacture and supply of rails is at the center of a legal dispute, with allegations that the bid evaluation and adjudication process was “hijacked by external forces” in the advanced stages of the bidding process.

Transnet is the largest and most crucial part of the freight logistics chain that delivers goods to  each and every South Africa.

“We were told by Transnet that the office does not possess the required minutes. How can an entity as big as Transnet not keep such important records, especially for a tender worth R50 billion?” said Dlomo.
