Mbabane – Athletics Eswatini (AE) has dispatched a three-member youth athletics team and their coach, Sibusiso Matsenjwa, to represent the country at the 2025 ANOCA Youth Games, which will be held in Angola from December 10 to 20.
The delegation left King Mswati III International Airport today morning, marking the beginning of Eswatini’s campaign at one of the continent’s key youth sporting events.
The selected athletes are Siphosethu Gamedze, Sikhanyiso Dlamini and Mnotfo Simelane, who will be guided by national coach Matsenjwa. The team will compete against top emerging talents from across Africa in a tournament designed to nurture future elite athletes.
AE confirmed that preparations had been ongoing for weeks, with the team undergoing final assessments before their departure. The association expressed confidence that the young athletes are ready to showcase their abilities while gaining valuable international exposure.
The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) has been credited for playing a central role in supporting the athletes’ participation, including facilitating logistics and ensuring that the team meets competition standards.
Meanwhile, AE has urged the nation to rally behind the athletes as they carry the country’s flag on the continental stage. The organisation said it hopes the team will return with strong performances and further elevate the country’s standing in youth athletics.
