Mbabane – More than fifty traditional leaders, including Chiefs, local government representatives, and community service providers, gathered for an advocacy and capacity-building session aimed at advancing disability inclusion. The event, hosted by UNFPA Eswatini in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and FODSWA, was supported by the UNPRPD.
The session, which took place recently, brought together traditional leaders from all four regions of Eswatini. Its primary goal was to enhance disability inclusion at the community level and ensure that people with disabilities are meaningfully represented in local decision-making processes.
Throughout the workshop, participants were educated on national and regional disability rights frameworks and how to improve coordination at the regional and Tinkhundla levels. The session also aimed to foster closer collaboration between organisations representing persons with disabilities (OPDs) and local authorities.
