MBABANE — As the Eswatini College of Technology (ECOT) held its 23rd graduation ceremony at the St Mark’s High School Hall today, the institution reaffirms its long-standing commitment to producing skilled, innovative and industry-ready graduates.
The graduation ceremony prompted the acting Minister of Education and Training, Dr. Cebsile Nxumalo, to deliver her motivating keynote remarks where she inspiring the 276 graduates to take bold steps into their futures with confidence, resilience and purpose.
In attendance were dignitaries, including the Regional Administrator for Hhohho, Princess Tsandzile, the Mayor of Mbabane, Thulani Mkhonto, senior government officials, heads of training institutions, captains of industries, representatives from development partners, police officials, parents and members of the ECOT community.
Addressing the graduates, Dr. Nxumalo first congratulated them for their determination and hard work, noting that their achievement represents not only academic effort but years of sacrifice, discipline and unwavering focus.
“Today is the day where every late night, every sacrifice, every moment of doubt, and every act of courage comes together to shine,” she said.
“Your achievements affirm your commitment, your perseverance, and your belief in what is possible.”
She further expressed profound gratitude to the ECOT management, lecturers and staff for their dedication and to parents and families for being the “anchors” behind the graduates’ success.

Dr. Nxumalo challenged the class of 2025 not to wait for opportunities but to create them.
“Do not simply wait for doors to open. Build your own doors. Shape your own paths.”
Quoting Nelson Mandela, she reminded graduates that, “It always seems impossible until it is done,” urging them to choose courage over fear and purpose over hesitation.
Echoing earlier remarks by Dr. Hlongwane, she encouraged graduates to go into the world as problem-solvers who meet challenges with creativity, innovation and a can-do spirit. “Our nation needs people who don’t wait for solutions but actively create them,” she added.
In her address, the acting minister also commended industry partners who continue to collaborate with ECOT to ensure students are equipped with practical, industry-aligned skills.
“Your partnership strengthens the bridge between the lecture room and the workplace, and for that, we are deeply grateful,” she said, highlighting the critical role of industry in shaping a competitive and relevant TVET sector.
Special appreciation was also extended to the Taiwan Technical Mission, recognised for its steadfast support in enhancing the institution’s learning environment and advancing innovation. Dr. Nxumalo praised the Mission’s contributions for helping align ECOT with global standards.
Building on existing progress, Dr. Nxumalo said ECOT is strategically positioned to become a leading force in digital integration, producing graduates capable of driving Eswatini’s technological advancement.
“Become that vibrant centre of innovation, producing visionary graduates who will drive Eswatini’s digital future and transform the possibilities of our nation,” she urged.
To the 276 graduates, she delivered a final message of encouragement and pride:
“Go forth and lead. Go forth and innovate. Go forth and uplift your families, your communities, and ultimately, the entire nation.”
As the ceremony concluded, the atmosphere was filled with celebration, hope and national pride as graduates embraced a new chapter, one defined by ambition, resilience and boundless potential.
