Mbabane –The Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Mandla Tshawuka, officially launched the 2025/26 Hamba Ubuye Maize Planting Season yesterday, Thursday 27 November 2025, marking the start of a key period for national maize production.
Early rains and timely delivery of inputs have set farmers across all regions for a productive start. This season, 248 farmers will plant 1,861 hectares, aiming for a projected harvest of 7,444 metric tonnes.
In Hhohho, 44 farmers will cultivate 293 hectares, with the Ntfonjeni cluster expected to play a major role in strengthening national maize reserves.
Minister Tshawuka personally handed over fertiliser to farmers, reinforcing government support for local agriculture and Eswatini’s drive to improve food security.
