Matsapha – The Ministry of ICT, through its Department of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation, officially launched Mission ShakthiSAT, a global initiative aimed at teaching girls about space, science, and innovation.
The launch brought together Minister of Education Hon. Owen Nxumalo, the High Commissioner of India to Eswatini HE Ram Prasad, Dr. Srimathy Kesan, CEO of Space Kidz India, partners, and the 108 young Eswatini girls participating in the programme.
Mission ShakthiSAT trains high-school girls worldwide in space technology and satellite design, with experiments planned to be sent into space and toward the Moon. The programme gives Eswatini’s participants hands-on exposure to spacecraft systems, payload design, and problem-solving, nurturing skills for future careers in science, engineering, and technology.

During the launch on Thursday November 27 2025, HE Ram Prasad said the initiative reflects the strong partnership between India and Eswatini and provides girls with opportunities to engage in advanced science, leadership, and innovation. He described the programme as a symbol of inclusion and empowerment, offering the daughters of Eswatini a chance to contribute to space exploration alongside peers from India.
Hon. Savannah Maziya told attendees, “Today, we are not just launching a project, we are launching dreams. Every girl in Eswatini deserves the chance to learn, explore, and believe that she can reach for the stars. This mission shows our girls that their ideas matter and their future is bright.”
