Mbabane – A 23-year-old Mayibongwe Zwile Shongwe, a man from Nkambeni, has been charged with housebreaking and theft after he allegedly broke into a home at Mahwalala Zone 6 and stole groceries and cash worth E4000.
Shongwe appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court where he faced charges of unlawfully breaking into the house of Qondile Dlamini on 11 November 2025.
The stolen items were reported to be the property of, or in the lawful possession of, Lwazi Shongwe.
According to the charge sheet, the items stolen included, E4,000 cash, chicken portions valued at E160, two Sensodyne toothpastes valued at E220, beef valued at E100, face wash valued at E80, vaseline (450ml) valued at E700, tinned foods valued at E110, russians valued at E60, cremora valued at E60, green bar soap valued at E60, toilet paper valued at E60, polony valued at E50, protex soap valued at E40, two 1L Umcenge milk valued at E40, nivea roll-on valued at E40, 15 eggs valued at E40, soup valued at E20 and the total value of all items was estimated at E5,370.
During his court appearance, Shongwe applied for bail. He told the court that he had just secured a new job and did not want to lose it. He also said he has a child to take care of and needed to secure his job.
The court granted him bail set at E2,000, with under the following bail conditions, he is to not commit a similar offence, not interfere with Crown witnesses, appear on all court dates. The matter was postponed to 08 December 2025 for trial.
