Mbabane – Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has left Eswatini for Ethiopia to attend the Ministerial Session of the Africa Pre-Commission on the Status of Women 70 Consultation (Pre-CSW70), a key gathering at advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment across the continent.
The high-level meeting brings together ministers and senior officials from African member states to review progress made in promoting women’s rights, identify persistent challenges, and address gaps that continue to hinder gender equality efforts. Delegates are expected to develop stronger, coordinated strategies to elevate women’s social, economic, and political participation.
A central focus of the session will be to deliberate and finalise Africa’s common position ahead of the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), scheduled for 9–20 March 2026 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This unified stance will guide Africa’s collective input on global discussions concerning women’s rights and gender-based development priorities.
