Lobamba – Eswatini is preparing to host a landmark celebration of sporting heritage as the Eswatini National Volleyball Association, ENVA, prepares itself for the inaugural Mozambique Masters Volleyball Tournament scheduled for next week.
ENVA President Erick Mseni Gama confirmed the development, describing the tournament as a platform designed to honour the yesteryear generation of volleyball stars. He said the initiative aims to recognise the veterans who opened doors for today’s athletes while reigniting their connection to the sport.
“This tournament is designed to bring together our former volleyball players and make them feel celebrated, it is our way of honouring them, appreciating their contribution to the sport, and encouraging them to remain part of the volleyball family,” he said.
Gama further revealed that talks with Lesotho’s volleyball authorities had been encouraging, raising hope that they will join the cross-border spectacle. He said the teams will feature experienced and much-loved volleyball veterans expected to deliver entertaining matches filled with skill, showmanship, and nostalgia.
As preparations intensify, ENVA has urged the public to rally behind the historic event. Gama encouraged supporters to attend in large numbers, teasing that he intends to showcase his skills on the court. While the tournament welcomes all unregistered players, the spotlight will be on participants aged 40 and above, adding a touching and nostalgic tone to the competition.
