MANZINI – The Manzini Regional Football Association has suspended all regional league matches following heavy rainfall that left multiple playing fields unplayable. The announcement was made yesterday by Acting Chief Operations Officer Muzi Mtsetfwa.
The suspension affects all divisions under the MRFA, with clubs instructed to pause training and matches until new dates are released. Mtsetfwa cited concerns over player and official safety, noting that continuing under current conditions would risk injuries. “All matches are postponed with immediate effect. Updated fixtures will be communicated in due course,” he said.
The pause comes as teams face a congested season, raising concerns about reduced recovery time and disrupted momentum once matches resume. Coaches have warned that repeated postponements during the rainy season could affect player conditioning and match preparedness.
Local football has often been disrupted by weather, but this simultaneous halt across all regional leagues points to significant field deterioration across Manzini. The MRFA has urged clubs to monitor official channels for updates and adjust preparations accordingly.
