Gaborone, Botswana – The Southern African Development Community and its International Cooperating Partners are holding a virtual meeting through the ongoing SADC ICP Dialogue Platform to strengthen regional integration, sustainable development and cooperation across Southern Africa.
The platform is a key mechanism for coordinating development efforts, improving understanding and ensuring that collective actions benefit the people of the region. It provides space to enhance cooperation between SADC and its partners on development priorities, review progress on joint programmes and discuss emerging issues such as climate change, trade, infrastructure, health, peace, security and economic development.
Partners are also aligning their support with SADC’s strategic frameworks, including the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan and Vision 2050.
The opening session featured SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi, Head of the European Union Delegation to Botswana and SADC Petra Pereyra, who chairs the cooperating partners, and South Africa’s Deputy Director General for Africa Ambassador Tebogo Seokolo, who is the interim chairperson of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials.
