Nhalangano : Blessed is the hand that gives because it will receive abundantly. What was expected to be an exciting day, turned out to be emotional one when Shiselweni II Member of Parliament, Strydom Mpanza, handed over a one-room house to Viera Dlamini, an elderly woman of Sibovu, under Mahlalini Umphakatsi in the Shiselweni Region.

The event was held on Saturday at gogo Viera Dlamini’s homestead, where she officially received a house built for her by the MP and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). The event was also attended by community members who witnessed the handover.

Gogo Viera could not hold herself and was overexcited throughout the event. Not only did she receive keys for her newly built house, but also received a bed, wardrobe, blankets, and food parcels, all from Mpanza. Previously, gogo Dlamini was staying in a stick and mud house which was not in a good condition.

In a brief and emotional speech, Gogo Dlamini thanked Mpanza for coming through and build a house for her. “I still recall how I got introduced to Mpanza when he had made a visit to see my then sickly daughter, who later passed on,” she recalled.

He went on to state that as the inner council, they were short of words for the kind gesture, especially because they appreciate the fact that the MP have a huge responsibility in all the nine chiefdoms under his constituency, adding that what Mpanza has done for Gogo Dlamini is truly commendable.

Khumalo concluded by thanking the community for holding hands and assisting the construction of the house and advised the community that the MP now had to shift his focus to other communities.

Making his remarks, Mpanza said it was his passion to alleviate the pains and suffering of vulnerable and underprivileged people in his constituency. He mentioned that his desire was witnessed some weeks ago when another house was handed over to a Malindzisa family which had been built through the support of SOS, where he also made a meaningful contribution.
