Mbabane – Ngwane Park High School’s victory in the PC Eswatini Football Association (EFA) U-19 Girls Tournament has been hailed as a turning point for girls’ football development in Eswatini schools.
The Mbabane-based side not only claimed the national title but also showcased the growing potential of young women’s football, earning praise from education and sports leaders for their discipline and teamwork.
EFA Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu said the school’s triumph reflects the success of investing in grassroots talent.
“These girls are proof that with proper support and structure, we can grow women’s football from the classroom to the national team,” he said. Ngwane Park walked away with E6,000, medals, and new footballs, while Mjongo High and Lozitha High finished second and third respectively.
Sponsors, PC Systems, contributed E51,000 to the competition, reaffirming their commitment to empowering young athletes.PC Systems Director Mandla Zulu said their goal extends beyond sponsorship.
“This is about building future leaders through sport. Football teaches teamwork, confidence, and resilience values every girl should grow up with,” he said.
The EFA has confirmed plans to expand the girls’ football initiative next season, with hopes of introducing more schools and regional leagues to strengthen the pipeline for national women’s teams.
