Mayiwane – Residents of Mayiwane Inkhundla will once again have an opportunity to obtain their birth certificates and identification documents as the Ministry of Home Affairs returns for a two-day mopping exercise.
The exercise, which will take place tomorrow and Thursday at Herefords Umphakatsi (Buhleni Sports Ground) and Mkhuzweni Umphakatsi (Enkhundleni), aims to assist individuals who were previously unable to register for birth certificates during the initial exercise held in August last year.
Mayiwane Member of Parliament (MP) Prince ‘Khunga Nkhosi’ Dlamini took to his Facebook page to alert his constituency on the developments.
“Good evening, Mayiwane. You will all recall that last year in August there was a mopping exercise where all people who were not registered in terms of birth certificates were assisted. We learnt with disbelief that despite all our efforts people still do not have the required identification documents. We have since made a request to the Ministry of Home Affairs to come again to Mayiwane to try and sweep again.
“It is on that note that we announce the mopping exercise that will take place at Herefords Umphakatsi (Buhleni Sports Ground) and Mkhuzweni Umphakatsi (Enkhundleni). It will strictly be two (2) days, so please tell a friend to tell a friend,” Dlamini said.
Local leadership had expressed concern that despite earlier efforts, many residents in the area still do not possess the required identification documents. This prompted the renewed request for the ministry to revisit the constituency and ensure that no one is left behind.
Community members are encouraged to spread the word and ensure that everyone in need of assistance is aware of the upcoming exercise. The process will be conducted strictly over two days, emphasising the need for residents to attend on time.
For more information or enquiries, residents are advised to contact their Bucopho or Indvuna Yenkhundla.
The mopping exercise forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that every Liswati is properly documented, enabling access to essential services and social benefits.
