Doha, Qatar – His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho arrived in Doha, Qatar, today for the Second World Summit for Social Development, which begins on Tuesday, 4 November 2025.
The summit, convened under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly, brings together Heads of State and Government from around the world to renew global efforts toward social progress and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
King Letsie III will join other world leaders in adopting an action-oriented declaration focused on accelerating poverty eradication, decent work, and social inclusion.
Ahead of his arrival, Lesotho’s delegation held preparatory meetings in Doha. The team includes senior officials from the Ministries of Social Development, Labour and Employment, and the Permanent Mission of Lesotho to the United Nations.
The Doha meeting continues the work begun at the 1995 Copenhagen Summit, which first set out the international community’s shared vision for inclusive and equitable development.
