Johannesburg – Trevor Mahoney of the Papwa Sewgolum Class and Zimbabwe’s David Amm carded rounds of four-under 66 to lead the opening day of the eighth Betway Big Easy Tour at Killarney Country Club in Johannesburg yesterday.
Both players sit a stroke ahead of their nearest competitors on the par-70 layout. Mahoney, showing signs of his form that earned him two Vusi Ngubeni titles on the Sunshine Tour, posted five birdies and a single bogey. Amm recorded five birdies, an eagle, one bogey, and an unwanted double bogey.

Tied for third place were Travis Procter and amateur Josh Aguilar, each with three-under 67. Sharing fifth position on 68 were Jonathan Ackerman, Jordan Duminy, LB Boshoff, Musiwalo Nethunzwi, Tumelo Molloyi, Ronald Rugumayo, Jake Bolton, Khanya Mkhize, Dillon Germishuys, and John Bele.
Players scoring 69 included Jeré Brits, Franklin Manchest, Jacquin Hess, Kael Strydom, Ryan Tipping, and Daniel Cronje. Scores of 70 went to Mandla Dlamini Jr, Drikus Joubert, Makhetha Mazibuko, Travis Ladner, Ruben Van Der Berg, Luke Joy, James Wiltshire, and Brandon Pieters.
The Betway Big Easy Tour, a feeder circuit for the Sunshine Tour, enjoys support from golfing legend Ernie Els among others and provides emerging talent an important platform to showcase their skills.
