Nsingizini Hotspurs coach Mandla Qhogi says he was impressed with his team’s overall performance but left disappointed by their failure to convert clear chances in their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Tanzanian giants, Simba SC.
Quated speaking on Nsingizini Hotspurs Facebook page after the match, Qhogi said his side created at least five goal-scoring opportunities but failed to make them count.
“I’m not satisfied with the execution of chances. I think we could have done better during the game,” he said.
Despite the missed opportunities, the coach commended his players for sticking to the game plan and showing resilience against an experienced side.
“We created a lot of chances, and I’m happy with the boys’ performance. They are starting to learn to play under these conditions,” he said.
Qhogi acknowledged the challenge of competing against seasoned continental teams but said the experience offered valuable lessons for his squad.
“It’s very difficult. We’ve played with a team that is more consistent in CAF competitions, but there’s a lot of takeaways from this game,” he added.
The coach admitted his team struggled in the final stages, particularly without possession.
“The last 20 minutes we suffered without the ball, but we knew it could happen because they are a team that wants to keep possession,” he said.
Despite the result, Qhogi remains optimistic that the experience will help his side grow.
“Performance-wise, it was very good,” he concluded.
