LOBAMBA – Royal Leopard will tomorrow afternoon stake their continental hopes on home soil when they face A.S Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo in a decisive CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round return leg at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm, with tickets priced at E40 and available through MojaTicket and selected outlets nationwide.
The Eswatini police side will be banking on the support of local fans to secure a win that would send them into the lucrative group stages of Africa’s second-tier club competition. The first leg in Congo ended 1–1, setting up a winner-takes-all contest in Lobamba.
A spot in the group stages carries not only continental recognition but also a financial reward of about E6.9 million, a sum that could greatly boost the club’s finances.
Team insiders revealed that training sessions have been rigorous this week, with the squad focusing on tightening their defence and improving finishing in front of goal.
A.S Maniema Union arrived in Eswatini on Thursday and will conduct a light training session at Somhlolo today. The Congolese outfit, known for their attacking play, are expected to provide a stern challenge.
Leopard coach Edwin Matsebula said his players are ready for the task ahead, expressing belief in their ability to handle the pressure and make history on home turf.
Football fans across the kingdom are expected to turn up in large numbers to rally behind the local side as they fight to keep Eswatini’s flag flying high in continental football.
