MBABANE – Leadership, to me, has never been about titles, power, or the number of people standing at your command. It has always been about the ability to influence hearts, to shape lives, and to inspire others to move in a direction that builds more than just structures. It builds people. True leadership, as I have come to learn and live, is not loud. It is not about dominance or position. It is about servanthood, the quiet and deliberate act of leading through example, humility and love.
Servanthood leadership goes beyond the notion of being a boss. A boss gives orders and expects obedience without question. A leader who serves, however, leads by action, by rolling up their sleeves, showing others how it is done, and proving that greatness is rooted in humility. This form of leadership is about understanding that influence is earned, not demanded. It is about making others feel valued, capable and seen. It is about remembering that, as one wise person once said, people may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
What defines a servant leader is not weakness but strength under control. It is the kind that allows one to put their foot down when necessary, not out of pride but out of purpose. Leadership often demands decisions that may seem harsh in the moment but are guided by love and conviction. Just as Moses led the Israelites through the wilderness, not every decision was met with applause, but every action was anchored in obedience and service to God’s will.
I believe that in God’s kingdom, leadership has never been about who sits higher but who kneels deeper. Servanthood is not submission to people. It is submission to purpose. It teaches us that those who lead best are those who have learned to serve without complaint, to give without recognition and to love without measure.
This is what I call the strength of kneeling. It is the heart posture of leaders who know that the true crown is not made of gold but of grace. This is an appointed Sunday Coffee, ordained by the Heavens, and if you are curious about what I do, just know that I am in the business of changing lives, one life at a time. Until we meet again, keep walking.
