MBABANE — The Public Sector HIV/AIDS Coordinating Committee (PSHACC) has begun a nationwide health campaign targeting public servants with screenings and awareness sessions on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), beginning with officers under His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS).
The initiative, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Health’s NCDs Programme, seeks to improve wellness among civil servants through early detection and management of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
The exercise began on 22 September 2025 and has since been rolled out across several correctional facilities. Over the past week, PSHACC teams visited the Mbabane and Bhalekane Correctional Centres on 13 and 14 October, before continuing at the HMCS Headquarters on 15 October. The campaign will proceed to Pigg’s Peak Correctional Facility on Thursday, with more institutions to be reached in the coming weeks.
PSHACC said the initiative responds to the growing burden of lifestyle-related illnesses among the working population. Through free health checks and education, the programme aims to build a healthier and more productive public service.
