Mbabane – Ten third-country nationals from the United States of America arrived in Eswatini on Monday, 6 October, and have been placed under the care of His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS).
According to the HMCS Public Relations Office, the group has been securely accommodated in one of the country’s correctional facilities as government works with local and international partners to facilitate their repatriation. Officials confirmed that all ten are in good health and are currently undergoing admission procedures.
HMCS said the arrival follows established correctional and security protocols to ensure the safety of the public and other inmates. The department added that the individuals pose no immediate threat to public safety as they remain under close supervision within the facility.
The Correctional Services Department maintained that it remains committed to the humane treatment of all persons in its custody and continues to uphold national and international standards that safeguard dignity, fairness, and respect for human rights.
It also stated that the confidentiality of all inmates’ information remains protected under the Correctional Services Act and is accessible only to authorised individuals or institutions with legal obligations concerning the inmates.
