Mbabane:  Typical slay queen never leave home without makeup on. She can show up in the middle of the night wearing a full face of makeup and, most likely, a pair of high heels.

But from Monday, men should not be surprised to see their girlfriends who had been looking like Holy Wood stars suddenly having facial features resembling their fathers.

If it happens that you (man) come across your girlfriend but now looking like her father, don’t go past her, it would be the same Slay Queen you had thought looks like Beyonce, but now without a makeup just because government, through Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has banned makeup and manicure at salons.

When providing the regulations that would be followed from Monday when some businesses would be opening, including salons, Khumalo announced that only hairdressing will be allowed in salons and barber shops

The minister was speaking at the Cabinet offices on Thursday.

According to www.vocabularly.com, makeup consists of things such as lipstick, eye shadow, and powder which some women put on their faces to make themselves look more attractive. To most women it is part of a daily routine to enhance their appearance.

Khumalo highlighted that since the virus is mainly transited from human to human, salons and barbershops should have high levels of hygiene in place and minimize touching to curb the spread of the virus.

‘When you get your hair, nails, or any other salon service done, it is physically impossible to socially distance, which makes salons a potential hotspot for COVID-19”.

According to the guidelines cosmetic shops are not expected to provide face beauty services.

Khumalo said as businesses open, they should all adhere to COVID-19 regulations as outlined by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organizations (WHO), by regularly sanitizing shops and surfaces with alcohol-based sanitizer.

They are also expected to use disposable gloves which they will change after every client.

Sanitization of all high touch surfaces must be done regular and disinfect all tools and implements according to industry standards.

“Both clients and customers should wear masks at all times. Screening for all workers and clients when entering premises”.

Social distancing shall be practiced at all times, there should be sufficient ventilation within premises

Clients are expected to bring their own towel to avoid sharing of equipment which may lead to transmission of the virus.

Clients are required to bring their own clean towels and encouraged to bring own barber machines.
