Manzini – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) presented His Majesty King Mswati III with the new 8Bet Trade Fair Cup trophy during the official opening of the Eswatini International Trade Fair at Mavuso Sports Centre.
The gesture formed part of the league’s tribute to the King, who has been a strong supporter of football development in the country. His guest, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, also received a gift from the PLE along with former Botswana president Ian Khama and former South African president Jacob Zuma, who were each presented with specially branded kits.
PLE Chairman Polycarp ‘Phoseka’ Dlamini said the league is guided by the King’s directive to prepare local players for major continental and global competitions such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. He noted that football has benefited from the King’s encouragement and urged government to continue supporting the sport.
“Football in Eswatini has grown through strong backing over the years. We call on government to keep walking with us as we raise the standard of the game,” Dlamini said.
He invited football lovers to attend the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup finals today at Mavuso Sports Centre, promising fans an exciting afternoon of competitive football. Dlamini urged teams to deliver entertaining matches and supporters to enjoy the games responsibly.
