Matsapha – Day one of the African Traditional Leaders Conference 2025 wrapped up on Friday night at Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha, where His Majesty King Mswati III welcomed more than 100 royal councillors and dignitaries from across the continent.
The historic gathering brought together kings, queens and chiefs to deliberate on the role of traditional leadership in uniting Africa and driving sustainable development. Leaders spoke on the importance of indigenous governance systems, cultural preservation and the contribution of the African diaspora to the continent’s progress.
Discussions also reflected on Africa’s independence and called on traditional leaders to work collectively in promoting peace, development and unity. The conference was described as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation across borders while drawing on African values to shape governance.
The first day ended with a gala dinner attended by monarchs and chiefs from several African countries. The evening, marked by cultural exchange and the spirit of Ubuntu, celebrated Africa’s shared heritage and the enduring influence of traditions in building peace and stability.
The conference continues on Saturday with further sessions expected to set practical resolutions for development and organizational growth.
