MBABANE – Eswatini’s own DJ Cup is returning to Mozambique for yet another major gig, this time joining a regional line-up at the Black Ace Show in Maputo on Saturday, 23 August 2025.
The South Beach venue in Maputo will host the event, with DJ Cup – born Zama Welcome Maseko – scheduled to perform at 5PM. Known for his deep house sets, the Mbabane-born DJ says Mozambique now feels like a second home following a string of successful shows in the country.
“This is always a special crowd for me,” DJ Cup said ahead of the gig. “The energy and support I get every time I play in Mozambique pushes me to deliver my best.”
He’ll be performing alongside a strong selection of acts from across the region, including Mozambique’s Sky White, Angola’s DJ Habias, and Eswatini’s own DJ! Sooks, as well as Double Drop and DJ V.
The booking comes just a week after his debut at the 7th edition of the Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival at House On Fire, where he shared the stage with Nomfundo Moh, TKZee, De Mthuda, Buhlebendalo, Andile Yenana, Sandz, Ayacity, and NDUMZ.
“Luju was incredible. The crowd showed up for me from the very first song, and I really fed off that energy,” he said.
Maseko, who is signed under New Life Records, has hinted at more cross-border collaborations with South African DJs before the end of the year. His growing reputation has been boosted by appearances at events like the Italian Elegant Experience in Maputo, where he performed with international acts including Sianageddon (UK), Oscar Mbo, and Picat Da Italian.
Beyond DJing, he plays a leadership role as Operations Director at New Life Entertainment, managing event planning, studio work, artist bookings, and talent development.
His latest body of work, Prime Time Jams Part 1, features collaborations with vocalists Zinia, Mvelo Tsabedze, and Temantungwa, delving into themes of love, ambition, and daring lifestyles.
Over the years, DJ Cup has played in Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique, and his native Eswatini, picking up MTN SWAMA Awards for Best House Song in 2020 and Best Collaboration in 2021.
