MBABANE – Dozens of children turned up at the Dziya community in Siphofaneni this week to receive free measles-rubella vaccines as part of the national immunisation campaign currently underway across the country.
The Ministry of Health, supported by UNICEF Eswatini, launched the vaccination drive targeting all children aged 9 months to 5 years, regardless of their previous immunisation status.
Parents and caregivers in the area brought their children in large numbers to participate in the campaign, which is being rolled out through public health facilities and mobile outreach teams across the kingdom.
The initiative also includes free doses of Vitamin A to strengthen immunity and support healthy growth, along with Albendazole to treat intestinal worms and improve nutrition among young children.
According to officials, the campaign is part of government’s strategy to prevent outbreaks and ensure no child is left behind when it comes to life-saving healthcare.
UNICEF is working closely with health workers to mobilise communities, urging all eligible children to be taken to the nearest clinic or outreach point for vaccination.
