PRETORIA – 31 July 2025: The South African Police Service (SAPS) says businessman Jerry Boshoga has not been found, dismissing widespread social media claims that he has been discovered dead.
Boshoga, who was abducted under unknown circumstances, remains missing, and the case is still under active investigation. SAPS described the situation as “very sensitive” and cautioned the public against spreading misinformation.
Over the past 24 hours, several unverified social media accounts have circulated false claims about Boshoga’s alleged death. SAPS warned that such posts have deeply affected Boshoga’s family, causing trauma to his mother, wife, and children.
Authorities have urged social media users to stop sharing unconfirmed updates, noting that only the police and the family’s liaison team will release official information when available.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe stressed that the investigating team remains in contact with Boshoga’s relatives and any credible updates will be communicated directly to them.
