MBABANE – Honda has introduced a mid-life update for its HR-V crossover, unveiling a streamlined version with upgraded features and a simplified single-model range for the Southern African market.

The updated HR-V, now only available in the Elegance trim, replaces the previous Comfort and Executive models. Exterior changes include a new body-coloured grille, redesigned LED headlights, a full-width LED light bar at the rear, and new dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels.

Two fresh colour options, Crystal Black Pearl and Ignite Red Metallic, have been added to the line-up, alongside existing choices such as Opal White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, and Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic.

Inside the cabin, the HR-V has been fitted with a new 15-watt wireless smartphone charger and a Type-C USB port alongside the traditional Type-A. Standard features include automatic air-conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch TFT display cluster, keyless entry, push-start button, folding electric mirrors, and imitation leather seats.

Under the bonnet, the HR-V retains its 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 89kW and 145Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. The claimed fuel consumption remains at 7.4 litres per 100km.

The revised HR-V Elegance is priced at R539 000, which includes a five-year or 200 000km warranty and a four-year or 60 000km service plan.
