Mbabane: COVID-19 has continued to rise as there are 9 more new cases recorded in Eswatini, resulting to the total of 172 confirmed cases.
The Ministry of health on Sunday received 81 results, which 72 tested negative and nine (9) tested positive.
Seven of the new cases are males and two (2) are females, most them are asymptomatic and their ages ranges from 22-38 years.
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has announced that the trend of cases in the kingdom is showing an upward trend on new cases. Nkosi said this is affected by the lab results turn-around time, also new findings in contact tracing, screening, swab collection and sample transportation activities at regional and family levels.
Nkosi explained that the recent cases are recorded from all the four regions of the country, however Manzini still shows to be the epicenter of the pandemic in the country. Nkosi said one of the factors leading to that is the activities around contact tracing through Rapid Response Teams (RRTs). Manzini and Hhohho have seen an increase in the number of RRTs from two to three.
Nkosi went on to reveal that the ministry has also increased screening and specimen collection activities in the Health care facilities hence the increase in case findings.
The Ministry of health continues to appreciate health workers for their dedication and commitment to the pandemic in the country as they are in the frontline in the fight against the pandemic.
