Manzini goes on full lockdown from today midnight -NATCOM

Mbabane: Travel in and out of Manzini will be strictly restricted with effect from tomorrow.

This follows that Manzini has proven to be the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country as most confirmed cases come from Manzini.

The National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini has announced full lockdown for Manzini with effect from Monday April 27.  “It is clear that most infections are happening in Manzini so from tomorrow, no one will be getting in or leaving Manzini” said Dlamini.

Dlamini warned the public on hosting parties that it is strictly prohibited and those who fail to comply will be arrested on the spot. Dlamini said it does not matter how many people will be at the party all of them will be arrested indefinitely. Police will be available 24/7 to monitor the situation in the kingdom. Roadblocks will be all over so as to monitor movement of the public.

Minster of Works and Public Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza has announced that movement will now be much strict as public will have to obtain permissions from their local authorities. “Police will ensure that there is no unnecessary travel within regions and communities” said Ndwandwe. He further explained that public will have to do shopping within their regions or go to regional healthy facilities should they need those services.

Meanwhile Transport and Logistics Chairman Sihlangu Nhlabatsi has given out the schedule to be used by public transport operators. Nhlabatsi said public transport will only operate from 5am to 11am and from 3pm to 7pm. There will few kombis from 11am to 3pm to transport those few fro. Hospitals or from buying food. He further mentioned that public transport operators were given special permits to use and those are time and route specific.
