MBABANE – JA Eswatini and the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at connecting young people with practical opportunities in the technology and innovation space.

The agreement was signed recently by JA Eswatini Executive Director Phetsile Masilela and RSTP Acting CEO Nomvuyo Gulwako at the RSTP headquarters.

Under the partnership, students enrolled in JA Eswatini’s school-based programs will be given access to job shadowing opportunities at the park. This means high school learners will now have a chance to experience a day in the life of professionals in various tech careers housed at RSTP, including data science, software development, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

Masilela noted that the collaboration builds on JA Eswatini’s long-standing goal of preparing the youth for the future of work. She said the partnership offers a practical learning experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Gulwako said RSTP sees the partnership as a pipeline for nurturing local talent and strengthening Eswatini’s digital economy. She said exposing young people to real work environments at an early stage would inspire innovation and confidence in technology-related fields.

The MoU also introduces a financial literacy component with a focus on fintech. According to both organisations, this will equip students with digital finance skills critical in navigating a modern economy increasingly reliant on online transactions, mobile banking, and tech-driven enterprise.

The new partnership is expected to roll out in selected schools in the coming weeks, targeting learners from Forms 4 and 5 who are already part of JA Eswatini’s entrepreneurship curriculum.
