Mbabane – Mother’s Day was marked with heartfelt tributes across Eswatini as families celebrated women for their dedication and love in raising children and supporting households.
Many took time to reflect on the meaning of motherhood and the lessons passed down by the women who raised them. In interviews with The Independent, local residents shared personal experiences and emotional reflections tied to the day.
Nothando Vilane, a mother, described her journey as a joyful one. “For me, motherhood has been a very beautiful journey. Watching your baby grow into a healthy and bouncing child is a blessing and a proud moment for me,” she said. “My proudest moment was when she started calling me Mama. What I will do better moving forward is spending quality time with my baby.”
Others spoke about the impact their own mothers had on their lives. Nokuphila Dlamini shared, “My mother means joy, wisdom and love. An ear to listen to me, wisdom to share with me, love she is still sharing with me. I am still learning how to cook. Plus I’m still learning to always remember other people. Sometimes call, say hi to that family member you have not seen for years.”
Slindile Ndgcamphalala expressed deep admiration, saying, “She means the world to me and she has taught me to put God first at all times and in everything that I do, say and every decision I make.”
