SHISELWENI – His Majesty King Mswati III has called for greater investment in tourism, describing it as a critical pillar for Eswatini’s economic transformation.
Speaking during a post-birthday dinner at Qomintaba, where he received a briefing on the ongoing construction of the 7th on the Hill Hotel, the King pointed to tourism as a potential leading contributor to the national economy. The event was hosted by the hotel’s owners, who have already injected over E200 million into the first phase of the development.
The King noted that countries with limited natural resources have successfully turned to tourism as a major economic driver. He said Eswatini could adopt a similar strategy by improving infrastructure and enhancing the tourist experience to attract international visitors.
His Majesty also called for job creation through such investments, saying improved livelihoods and infrastructure development should go hand in hand with economic growth. He said Eswatini’s broader economic agenda includes developing sectors such as agriculture, financial services, tourism, and natural resources.
