Lobamba- The local Government has continued to prioritize the needs of vulnerable groups by providing various social transfers amounting to E748.6 million in the current financial year. These resources enabled the Government to increase the number of eligible Persons with Disabilities to 14,459, while benefiting 58,847 OVCs and benefiting a total of 81 554 Elderly Persons as of November 2023. Another key milestone on the disbursement of grants was the improvement on the turn-around time from three months to monthly payments.Government has allocated an amount of E909 million to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in order to continue these essential services of taking care of the social sector. The addition to this year’s budget mainly caters for the increased number of people on disability grants as well as to increase the amount of the disability grant.
