Ezulwini: It is now confirmed that the 2021/2022 season will again have 16 league teams.
They are currently 16 and they will continue being the same in the next season. Two teams will be relegated from the MTN Premier League at the end of the current season, to the MTN National First Division and then two teams will be promoted from the NFD to the MTN League.
This is according to the amended 2020/2021 MTN premier league rules and regulations that were presented to the Board of Governors meeting which was held Sunday, May 23 at the Happy Valley Hotel.
In the previous rules and regulations, it was indicated that three teams were to be relegated at the end of the season.
Yesterday that they have received a circular from the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) that clear the air about promotion and relegation. “Four teams will be relegated from the National First Division league while four will be promoted from the four regions.
EFA will be working on a strategy on how the promotion in the regional level as the regional league were not playing since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.” said the Chairman, Mark Carmichael. Another thing that transpired during the meeting was the postponement of all the three knockout tournaments which are the Ingwenyama Cup tournament, Eswatini Bank Cup, and the Eswatini Telecom Cup.
