Ezulwini – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) will host its 4th Annual Client Appreciation Day in Ezulwini on Friday, July 10, 2026, where the country’s most compliant taxpayers and businesses will be celebrated under the theme “Stars of Compliance: Honouring Clients Who Build Eswatini.”
The annual event recognises taxpayers, traders and partners who have shown sustained commitment to voluntary compliance and who continue to support Eswatini’s revenue system.
Client Appreciation Day is one of ERS’ flagship stakeholder engagement platforms. It allows the organisation to thank clients who meet their tax and customs obligations and contribute to the national fiscus, which funds essential public services and national development priorities.
ERS Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule said the event provided an opportunity to recognise clients who consistently comply with tax and customs requirements while encouraging a culture of voluntary compliance.
“Compliance is easier to sustain when it is built on trust, clarity and partnership. Through Client Appreciation Day, we are thanking clients who have consistently done the right thing and encouraging more businesses and individuals to see compliance as a direct contribution to Eswatini’s development,” said Nkambule.
Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg will deliver the keynote address and is expected to thank compliant taxpayers for their contribution to the fiscus, which enables delivery of essential services to emaSwati.
South African Revenue Service (SARS) Commissioner Dr Ngobani Johnstone Makhubu will also feature at the event, where he is expected to share insights on trade facilitation, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme, seamless border management and tax administration collaboration between Eswatini and South Africa.
One of the major highlights will be the accreditation of 15 companies into the ERS Customs Authorised Economic Operator Programme, which recognises trusted and compliant traders while promoting smoother, more secure and more efficient trade across borders.
Awards will be presented to compliant taxpayers across a wide range of economic sectors, including wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, mining and industrial operations, information and communication technology, financial and insurance services, construction, agriculture, forestry and fishing, education, health and social work, real estate, professional and technical services, transportation and storage, accommodation and food services, as well as other service industries.
Additional recognition will go to regional micro clients, partner institutions, clearing agents, sole traders and the Overall Highest Contributor. Winners will also be recognised according to business size categories, namely Large, Large Medium, Medium, Small and Micro enterprises.
To safeguard the integrity of the awards, ERS said recipients are selected through a rigorous assessment of their compliance record during the previous financial year. Eligible clients must have submitted all tax returns and customs declarations on time, paid all obligations when due, maintained no outstanding tax debts and have no unresolved tax disputes.
According to ERS, these stringent criteria ensure that the awards recognise consistent compliance and good standing rather than isolated performance.
Members of the public and stakeholders unable to attend will be able to follow proceedings through live broadcasts on the ERS Facebook and YouTube platforms, with additional updates to be shared through the organisation’s communication channels ahead of the event.
