MBABANE – Customers using FNB Eswatini’s SicaloZero account will no longer pay card swipe fees following changes introduced by the bank on 1 July 2026.
The move benefits customers earning up to E10 000 a month, including informal traders, who use the entry-level transactional account.
The SicaloZero account already carries no monthly account maintenance fee, and customers will now be able to make purchases using their debit cards without paying swipe charges.
FNB Eswatini Executive Head of Retail Dr Mncedzi Ngomane said the change forms part of the bank’s efforts to ease everyday banking costs for customers.
“We understand that our customers have differing needs and we took this into consideration as we deliberated on our pricing for the new financial year. We are therefore pleased that we have addressed critical needs across our different customer profiles, ensuring that, wherever they are in their life journey, our customers feel the helping hand of FNB Eswatini,” he said.
According to the bank, the free swipe benefit forms part of its latest pricing structure, which includes more than 100 free banking services.
Chief Marketing Officer Sibusile Dlamini said the changes are guided by the bank’s customer promise, “Help is for Everyone,” and reflect its intention to make banking more affordable for all emaSwati.
She said the pricing changes are also intended to support broader financial inclusion by reducing the cost of accessing banking services.
In addition to free card swipes, SicaloZero customers continue to enjoy an account with no monthly maintenance fee, while other free services across the bank include CashPlus deposits, internal debit orders and scheduled payments.
FNB Eswatini also announced that the first eWallet withdrawal on its CashPlus platform, which is available through more than 800 active agents across the country, will now be free.
