BHUNYA – What began as a personal escape during one of the most challenging periods of her life has grown into a literary success story for emerging Eswatini author Nokwanda Siphesihle Nkambule.

Her debut novel, In Another Life, was officially launched on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bhunya Hall, marking a significant milestone not only in her career but also for Eswatini’s growing literary landscape.

The launch attracted family members, friends, literary enthusiasts, and supporters of the local arts, all gathered to celebrate the young writer whose work is already making waves beyond the country’s borders.

In Another Life, a gothic dark romance that explores themes of love, loss, fate, and emotional struggle, has already been verified on Amazon and Goodreads and has attracted more than 10,000 digital reads.

Inspired by literary classics such as Wuthering Heights, Rebecca, and Shakespearean tragedies including Romeo and Juliet, the novel blends psychological suspense with emotional storytelling.

Speaking during the launch, Nkambule shared that she began writing the novel while studying at the University of Mpumalanga. She explained that what initially started as casual writing gradually evolved into a complete manuscript after financial challenges interrupted her studies, forcing her to reflect deeply on her life and future.

“This book is very personal to me. It comes from a place of struggle, reflection, and growth. I want young people to know that setbacks do not define your future,” she said.

She added that writing became a source of healing during one of the most difficult periods of her life.“I used writing as a way to cope and rebuild myself. What started as pain became purpose,” she said.

Nkambule also expressed appreciation to everyone who attended the launch, saying the overwhelming support made the occasion memorable despite the absence of some close family members and friends.Beyond celebrating her own achievement, the author called for stronger investment in Eswatini’s literary industry and more opportunities for aspiring writers.

“There are so many young writers in Eswatini with powerful stories. We just need opportunities and platforms to share them,” she said.

Delivering the keynote address, Vumindaba Masuku, President and Founder of the Eswatini Literacy Foundation, commended Nkambule for transforming adversity into achievement.

He described the launch as more than just the unveiling of a book, saying it represented hope for young people across the country.

“Today we are not just launching a book; we are launching a message of hope. This is what happens when determination meets opportunity,” he said.

Masuku further encouraged young people to embrace challenges as stepping stones to success, adding that Nkambule’s journey reflects the untapped creative potential that exists within Eswatini.

The successful launch of In Another Life adds another promising voice to Eswatini’s literary community while highlighting the growing international recognition of local authors.

For many in attendance, the event was more than a book launch, it was a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of storytelling to transform lives.

As Nkambule begins this new chapter, her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring writers, proving that even life’s greatest setbacks can become the foundation for extraordinary success.
