MBABANE – Eswatini comedian and entertainment entrepreneur Cedric Simelane is set to celebrate a major milestone in his comedy career as Last Friday Gags with Cedric & Friends marks its first anniversary on 26 June 2026 at Molly’s House of Grills in Mbabane.
The anniversary show promises an evening packed with laughter and top-class entertainment, bringing together some of the region’s most talented comedians. The lineup includes South African comedian Bexta alongside Mdura, Dr Shakes, Darren, Fohlas, and host Cedric Simelane himself. Adding to the excitement, renowned South African comedian Thando Comedy has been announced as a special guest appearance for the event.
Originally from Hlathikhulu and now based in Mbabane, Simelane has steadily built a name for himself in the comedy industry through his relatable storytelling and unique ability to turn everyday experiences into humour. His comedy often reflects his upbringing and personal journey from village life to the capital city, resonating with audiences across Eswatini.
In 2024, Simelane reached a significant milestone when he successfully hosted his one-man show, Umfanwagogo: From Hlatikulu to the Capital. The show was sold out and marked a breakthrough moment in his career, demonstrating the growing appreciation for stand-up comedy in the country.
Beyond performing, Simelane is passionate about creating opportunities for other comedians. This vision led to the establishment of Last Friday Gags, a platform dedicated to showcasing both established and emerging comedy talent. Over the past year, the initiative has become a popular feature on Eswatini’s entertainment calendar, helping to nurture local comedians while providing audiences with quality live comedy experiences.
As the first anniversary approaches, excitement continues to grow among comedy fans. Organisers recently announced the countdown to the event, highlighting what is expected to be one of the biggest comedy gatherings of the year.
The show will begin at 7:01 PM, with tickets available online for E80 and E100 at the gate.
