MBABANE – Somnjalose High School and SOS High School emerged as the standout performers during the Hhohho South eliminations held at Prince of Wales Stadium on Thursday, securing top positions in several categories and booking their places in the Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture competition finals.

The highly competitive event brought together schools from across the region to showcase their talents in military drill, cheerleading, African dance, kwaito and other performance categories.

Somnjalose High School delivered an exceptional performance, claiming first position in Military with 96.5 percent, Cheer Girls with 97.3 percent, African Dance with 96.8 percent, Street Drill with 96.8 percent and Kwaito Boys with an impressive 97.8 percent.

SOS High School also enjoyed a successful outing, winning Show Prop with 96.5 percent, Cheer Complex with 97.3 percent and Drill with 96.8 percent. The school also secured second-place finishes in Military, African Dance and Kwaito Girls.

In the Cheer Girls category, St Mary’s High School finished second with 95.3 percent, while St Marks High School secured third position in Show Prop and Kwaito Boys and finished second in Street Drill.

Siphocosini High School proved to be a strong contender in dance categories, sharing second position in African Dance with SOS High School after both schools scored 96.3 percent. The school also claimed third place in Kwaito Girls and second place in Kwaito Boys.

Based on their overall performances, Somnjalose High School topped the Inyatsi qualifiers with an average score of 97.2 percent, followed by SOS High School with 96.7 percent. MDS High School secured third place among the qualifiers with an average score of 96 percent.

Meanwhile, the Eswatini Schools Sibhaca Association eliminations saw Ekuvinjelweni High School dominate the Indlamu category with 91 percent, followed by Nsukumbili High School on 90 percent and Siphocosini High School on 89 percent.

Lobamba Nazarene High School claimed first place in the Sizingili category with 88.3 percent, ahead of Somnjalose A and Nsukumbili.

In the overall Sibhaca averages, Siphocosini High School emerged victorious with 89 percent, followed by Nsukumbili on 88 percent and Somnjalose A on 87.65 percent.

The eliminations formed part of the ongoing Eswatini Arts and Culture Competitions, which continue to provide a platform for learners to showcase their talent, creativity and cultural heritage while competing for places in the national finals.
