MBABANE – Eswatini’s very own comedian Dr Shakes is taking his craft beyond borders as he prepares to share the stage in Kampala, Uganda, on 1 May.
In a recent social media post, Dr Shakes announced his upcoming appearance in Uganda, inviting fans to meet him at Motiv in Bugolobi. The cross-border collaboration will see him featured at “Jokes From Far Away 2026,” a live comedy special headlined by Ugandan comedian Dr Hilary Okello.
The event is scheduled to take place at 8:00PM at Motiv Bugolobi, a popular creative arts and performance venue in Kampala. The show promises an evening of laughter, cultural exchange and fresh comedic perspectives, bringing together audiences from different parts of Africa.
Dr Shakes’ participation marks another milestone in his growing career as he continues to expand his reach outside Eswatini. Known for his witty storytelling, relatable humour and ability to connect with everyday experiences, he has built a loyal following at home. According to the event poster, ticket prices range from early bird ordinary tickets at 30,000 UGX and early bird VIP at 50,000 UGX, to gate tickets priced at 50,000 UGX and VIP at 70,000 UGX. Premium seating options, including Gold (for eight people) at 1 million UGX and Platinum (for eight people) at 2 million UGX, are also available.
The show is expected to draw comedy lovers from across Uganda and beyond, with Dr Hilary Okello leading the lineup and Dr Shakes representing Eswatini on the international stage.
