Mbabane – A fourth multiple robbery suspect has been arrested and charged with cellphone theft after the initial appearance of three co-accused men six months ago at the Mbabane Magistrates Court, according to the prosecution’s amended charge sheet.
Gift Mangaliso Mbuyisa (20) of Mangwaneni is appearing as the fourth suspect, co-charged with Mbonisi Hluma Magongo (25) of Lobamba, Phinda Basotho Mookebe (19) of Mahwalala and Sabelo Samkelo Zwane (27) of Gcina.
The men are accused of multiple housebreaking and robbery charges. They face five joint charges. They are out of custody after paying varied bail amounts. Court records show that accused one and two, Magongo and Mookebe, were granted E6000 bail each. Zwane, the third accused, was granted E4000 bail. The record also states that Mbuyisa (fourth accused) was granted E1000 bail along with the others on June 16, 2025, and that he was skipped due to an error, resulting in the altered charge sheet.
The accused individuals briefly appeared in court on Monday, but the case was postponed until January 13th at the request of the prosecution to continue proceedings.
In count one of the five accusations, Magongo and Mookebe are accused of breaking into a house and taking E28,055 in apparel. According to the charge sheet, they committed this offence on May 9, 2025, at Checkers, when they wrongly, unlawfully, and wilfully broke and entered Philanie Gamedze’s house while acting together in furtherance of a single goal.
The accused men were also charged with further counts of robbery in counts two and three, which both occurred on 3 May 2025 at Nkoyoyo. Their victims were Kwanele Vilakati, who was threatened with violence while stealing his Adidas slides valued at E500, and Sibusiso Mbuli, who was threatened with assault for his Pio Mobicel cellphone valued at E1,500.00.
According to the charge sheet, a robbery occurred at Hilltop on April 17, 2025, which led to the fourth count. The accused are charged with robbing Sibongile Simelane of approximately E8,780 in things and threatening to harm her if she protested. They stole:
- Money amounting to E5,500,
- Navy blue Samsung Galaxy M14 cellphone valued at E2,900, and,
- 2x Itel cellphones valued at a total of E380.
In count five, Magongo and Mbuyisa were charged with robbery, which was committed on 14 May 2025 at Sidvwashini. They are accused of robbing one Nontokozo Mngometulu of her grey Hisense cellphone valued at E800 under threat.
