Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Ford has unveiled a new petrol-powered Everest Tremor, making it the most powerful version of the SUV yet. The model swaps the 3.0-litre Lion turbodiesel V6 previously used in Australia and South Africa for a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 engine familiar from the North American Ranger and F-150.

Built in Thailand, the petrol Tremor produces 265 kilowatts and 500 newton metres of torque, routed to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox co-developed with General Motors. While its torque is slightly lower than the diesel V6, Ford says this version tops the Everest range in power.

The exterior mirrors the Australian Tremor, featuring 17-inch grey alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, gloss black wheel arch cladding, a black honeycomb grille, roof rails, black mirror caps, side steps, and orange Tremor badges. Under the hood, the Bilstein position-sensitive dampers and widened front track remain unchanged.

Inside, the petrol Tremor matches the Sport variant in the Middle East, positioned between the Active and Platinum trims. Ford has confirmed this petrol Tremor is exclusive to the Middle East and will not replace the diesel option in other markets.

The diesel Lion V6 will continue to lead the Everest range in Thailand, Australia, and South Africa, while local markets, including South Africa and by extension the region, will see a realigned Everest range with the 2.3 EcoBoost replacing the discontinued 2.0-litre Panther bi-turbodiesel in the coming months.
